Mexican Cultural Exchange Program
Making new friends, exploring a new culture and tasting different foods are all benefits of the Mexican Cultural Exchange Program with our sister school in Mexico City. Each year, over 40 Bosque students interact directly with students from Colegio Reina Elizabeth School in Mexico by hosting a Mexican student at their home, acting as a buddy during classes, or by traveling to Mexico to stay with a host family. This program began in 2004 and has proved to be one of the most profound experiences a young person has. Students in grades 7-9 can apply to participate in this program.

2013 Mexican Exchange Information and Forms
Join us in the 2013 Intercultural Exchange between Bosque School in Albuquerque and Colegio Reina Elizabeth in Mexico City. From January 26 to February 9, 2013, a group of students and three teachers from Colegio Reina Elizabeth will be visiting Bosque School. These students will experience the “Bosque School Community" and the culture of New Mexico. Any family with a student in 6th through 9th grades can apply to host a student from Mexico. This is an enjoyable and rewarding experience that lets families and students develop lasting relationships, foster meaningful connections, and deepen our understanding of who we are.
Later, a group of Bosque students and two teachers will be traveling to Mexico, D.F. for two weeks, from February 24 to March 9, 2013. We also will be living with host families there, attending classes, and visiting amazing cultural sites around Mexico City. Any student in 7th through 9th grades can apply to travel to Mexico with the group. Our goal for Bosque students is that they expand their perspectives as they experience different lifestyles, cultures, and languages. We do not want to limit this experience to just those students who will travel or the families who will host. Rather, we hope that this will provide a setting for the whole Bosque community to learn and grow. Through this experience, Bosque students will begin to have a stronger sense of their own identity and of their role in a global community. Furthermore, they will have ample opportunities to continue to develop their linguistic skills.
The application deadline is Thursday, October 18. Students hoping to travel to Mexico must also have two teachers fill out a recommendation form, so students should be working with teachers in a timely way to secure these forms.
